You may have seen the Tap Snap photo booths at Phoenix Suns games and other events throughout the Valley. (The Collectivo board sure enjoyed the photo booth at our last Suns outing!)

Well TapSnap is back at our Collectivo events and will feature some really cool backgrounds customized for our event. We want to thank Carlos Tarazon for offering this great service for our attendees.

eventkey logoFor the first time, we will have the EventKey checkin app set up for our Collectivo events. Again, we are featuring a Latino owned business. This time it’s the startup idea of one of the event’s panelists: Rafael Testai.

Latino Startups Event: Meet Our Moderator Edgar R. Olivo!

edgarEdgar R. Olivo is a Hispanic Author, Award-winning Speaker, Business Development Strategist and Corporate Trainer. Edgar currently serves as Vice Chairman for the Arizona Humanities, a state organization that ensures funding is available for schools, libraries, and museums that keep cultural enrichment programming happening across the state. In 2012, Mayor Greg Stanton honored Edgar with the Key to the City of Phoenix for his work on the H.E.R.O Veterans Initiative and is the recipient of the 2015 Hispanic Business Salute Award bestowed by Telemundo Arizona and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He was featured on CNN Latino in 2013 for his work empowering Hispanic business owners with Spanish entrepreneur programming.

He has worked with thousands of bilingual entrepreneurs of diverse backgrounds through partnerships with government and non-profit agencies. In 2014, his company developed a bilingual entrepreneur program for the City of Phoenix that reached over a 3,000 entrepreneurs and helped launch over 40 businesses in less than one year. He also oversees the Business Accelerator programs for the Local First Arizona Foundation, an educational initiative designed to empower Spanish-speaking business owners through financial literacy and business development training. Edgaralso authored a book called “Get Your Focus On! 5 Steps to Gain Focus and Clarity on the Life and Career of Your Dreams!”; which was admitted in the Scottsdale Civic Center Library Arizona Authors Collection as well as Phoenix and Buckeye Libraries.

He is the founder of Compass Career and Business Solutions, LLC, a nationally recognized and Hispanic-owned bilingual business development and training center based in Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Edgar is an internationally certified business coach and trainer from the International Coaching Federation and the International Association of Continuing Education and Training. He majored in business communication at the W.P Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and is in pursuit of his Masters in Business Administration.

Celebrate 2 Years of Collectivo and Help Us Give Back

Collectivo is celebrating two years of organizing great events for Latino marketing and communications professionals. We’re taking this opportunity to help another fabulous organization in the valley help others. Feed Our Babies USA is a local non-profit that provides healthy food boxes to school children and their families from local farmers, restaurants and retailers.

b1715803-2f42-4fab-bd98-5dc296700dc1Their mission is to bring community resources together to develop and implement a sustainable, nutritious food source for hungry families, one school district at a time. And they are on track to feed 1,200 families this season.

You can help us help them by bringing dry or canned goods to donate to our holiday food drive!

Meet our Panelist: Christian Avila, National Civic Engagement Coordinator for Mi Familia Vota

83f3367e-706c-4f10-805a-88d2b1739a03Christian Avila is the National Civic Engagement Coordinator for Mi Familia Vota, a national non-profit organization working to unite the Latino community and its allies to promote social and economic justice through increased civic participation. Through his work with Mi Familia Vota, Christian has had the opportunity to attend the President’s State of the Union Address as First Lady Michelle Obama’s guest. Mr. Avila came to the United States when he was nine years old from Mexico and now spends his time working to increase public support for full civic participation in Latino and immigrant communities.
