New Panelist: Investigative Journalist Gilbert Zermeno

Z-Gilbert-ZermenoBreaking news from Collectivo: veteran journalist Gilbert Zermeno has been added to our Latino Journalists Panel on January 20, 2016.

In 32 years of Broadcast Journalism Gilbert Zermeño has received 20 Emmy Awards, two Edward R. Murrow awards and multiple Associated Press and Best of the West Awards. New Times magazine named him Best Television Journalist in Phoenix … twice.

“Z” as hes known to team members, began his Phoenix career in 1986 at Channel 10. In 1994, he moved across town to CBS5. He has been an Investigative Producer/PhotoJournalist there for the past 20 years.

In 2008, Gilbert was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle.

Z has covered the L.A. Riots, Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia, political figures in Central America, orphans in Mexico and street fights in downtown Phoenix.

Zermeño is now on his 17th semester as an ASU Adjunct Professor earning the title of Honors Faculty at the Cronkite School of Journalism and was named the 2011-2012 Faculty Associate of the Year.
